I grew up in a large family in northern Virginia and since I was little had a huge heart for young kids. The second my church had announced they were going to an orphanage in Guatemala for a short term trip, I eagerly signed up! It broke my heart to leave, but after returning home I knew I wanted to come back! I took a few other short term trips in high-school and my love for the country grew with every trip. After graduating from Virginia Tech with my Degree in Child & Adolescent development, I always wondered how the lord would use that – I nannied, babysat in college & high school and taught at Montessori after graduating but I always felt like there was something more. In the winter of 2012 I took a trip with several other college students to a missions conference and it was there I really felt like the Lord was calling me into missions but I was not sure how that would work.
Eventually, the Lord led me to come back to Guatemala in summer of 2017 for 3 months! I spent my time serving with Todd & Maureen Erickson and eventually got connected with Paso A Paso, which is a ministry in a village just outside of Antigua. Todd and Maureen had actually been able to work some with this ministry in the past and they were able to connect me with the founder of Paso A Paso (day by day), Stephanie. After visiting the program and meeting with a few families in the community, I prayed that God would make a way for me to come serve in the future. It wasn’t long before Stephanie and I were able to work out the details and plans to help with the preschool in this ministry.
