Breakthroughs with Friends
Day Three – January 10, 2018
When you are going through a setback, when you need a breakthrough, the last thing you want to do is to go it alone. There needs to be a safe place for you to go when you are under attack…a place that is off-limits to the enemies of your life. Let me tell you where that place is by showing you this story from the Bible.
“When the Philistines learned that David had been made king of Israel, they mobilized all of their forces against him to attack and enslave him, but David heard the news and moved to his fortified place. Then the Philistine army moved in and spread out across the entire valley. So David sought the Lord in prayer. He asked ‘Should I go fight these Philistines? Will you give them over to me?’ The Lord replied, ‘Yes, go ahead! You can certainly count on me to give you the victory!’ So David went out and defeated them. Then David said, ‘I watched the Lord break through my enemies like a mighty flood.’ So he named the place ‘The Lord Broke Through!‘” 1 Chronicles 14:8-11
David was in a jam. This was a huge setback. There was no escape. So what was the first thing that he did? “David heard the news and moved to his fortified place.” Let me ask you a question. Do you have a fortified place? Is there a place where the enemy cannot get to you so that you have time to connect with God?
If you are part of Destiny Church, then the answer to the question is “Yes, you have a fortified place!” That place is Destiny.
Honestly, I do not know what I would do without my friends at Destiny. When I have a setback, my Destiny friends are the first to know, and the first to join me in prayer. I cannot begin to tell you how much strength I draw from this fortified place. It is also the place where I can hear from God most clearly. That is why I am such a fan of twenty-one days of prayer and fasting. For the next several weeks, I get to join with other friends from Destiny to break through spiritual and personal barriers and hear from God in a most powerful way. If you have never done something like this before, I encourage you to join us tomorrow at 6am for an hour of prayer. If you are not able to join us because of work or other obligations, join us on Saturday morning at 9am for an hour of prayer. We want to give all of you an opportunity to be in this fortified place.
